Annatto Seeds Natural Dye Fabrics Orange/Pink/Red

Long used in the Americas as body paint and food dye, Annatto comes from the Atchiote tree. It produces spicy oranges, yellows and reds. It is known as a substantive dye but its colour, wash and light fastness is greatly improved when used with a mordant. It is for this reason that it has historically been used to give a 'pop' of colour to other dyes such as madder root.
